Lioness in zoo kills man who invoked God

A man shouting that God would keep him safe was mauled to death by a lioness in Kiev zoo after he crept into the animal's enclosure, a zoo official said on Monday.

“The man shouted ‘God will save me, if he exists’, lowered himself by a rope into the enclosure, took his shoes off and went up to the lions,” the official said.

“A lioness went straight for him, knocked him down and severed his carotid artery.”

The incident, Sunday evening when the zoo was packed with visitors, was the first of its kind at the attraction.

Makes it sound as if it's planned to be a regular attraction.

"Mummy, can we go to the zoo again? I want to see the nutter get eaten!"

"No dear, we're going to the circus to see a different nutter get stamped on by the elephants."

A very fine entry for this year's Darwin Awards. God AND natural selection. Excellent!

If he wanted to test God's desire to protect him from harm, why didn't he try it out on a less lethal scale first? "God will stop this staple going through my fing-- ow!", for example. But no, my children, you have to have faith. Otherwise what's the point of God?
