Drivers! If you insist on reinforcing my prejudices about what hunching over a steering wheel does to people ("You don't understand what it's like to drive," an old friend of mine keeps saying, but I understand only too well: it's like being a seven-year-old allowed to play with a power tool) by driving obliviously and recklessly, then realising too late that you're protruding into oncoming traffic and trying to reverse into me at speed as I'm legitimately using a pedestrian crossing, expect me to smack your goddamn car. Your frenzied honking and swearing in response is misplaced. I'm not the c*nt here.

We're doing the Road Safety Bill at the minute, and the Tories are gamely trying to resist the creation of an offence of causing death by careless driving. Something to bear in mind the next time you see the Daily Mail railing against the Government being soft on crime.

You know how motorists' organisations like to talk of the Government victimising motorists, or the "war" on the motorist? Well I say you may as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb. We *should* actively victimise motorists. Make them pay money for every metre they travel. Equipment should be installed into cars that give people electric shocks every time they jump lights or refuse to stop at zebra crossings. Buses should have the right to destroy cars that park in bus lanes. My patience is now at an end...

Make them pay money for every metre they travel.

By taxing the fuel, for example?

No, that's not enough. A pound a metre, I say, and not a penny less.
