When I was a kid I had action figures among my toys. I understand the appeal when you’re a child. If I had been a big manga fan and I’d seen this 19" toy version of Kaneda’s bike in a shop window, I might well have coveted it:

This die-cast metal vehicle replica arrives complete with LED light-up features on the entire bike, as well as sound effects, including engine start, rev, tires, drift and drive, and adjustable headlights. Action figure sold separately.
You’d expect it to be a bit pricey, obviously; extra-special-birthday-present kind of cash. So let’s see the damage...

Holy flaming buckets of shit.

I think that's more than the entire development budget for the Quasar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quasar_%28motorcycle%29)

Welcome to otakudom. That kind of price for a replica like that is sadly all too typical. It's less than £1000 - that's a bargain price.

There was some rubbish telly prog on a few weeks ago where a designer paid £1000 for a life size resin replica of Darth Vader's head.

Srsly.

I assume it comes with some sort of expensive cooling system to keep it as close to Absolute Zero as possible, lest there be tentacles?
