In case you’ve been wondering, “Just where the hell have you been, [livejournal.com profile] webofevil?”, then I’ll ignore the fact that you’re being a little brusque and tell you that I’ve been to a family meet-up here:

That’s more than a 3,000-kilometre journey. I would have split the driving with my brother, if I could drive. We took the car up north instead of flying because we wanted to take our time returning along the spectacular coast. So the trip consisted of things like this:

And this:

Very much a shedload of this:

And a statistically unlikely amount of this;

Also, a museum of dried fish.

Magnificent!

You are in a privileged position. You can openly display measurable ignorance about current affairs such as the X-Factor auto-tune scandal or the Home Office pathologist's pathetic whitewashing over Dr David Kelly, and to the enquiry "Where have you been?" use, as a valid reason rather than an excuse, the fact that you have been living on a remote island off the coast of Norway.

Revel in this moment. The license to openly declare, and enjoy the feeling of, nescience in current affairs will not come again. Unless you have reason to return to Norway. Judging by the stunning landscape there, you probably would not require much urging to do so.
