In case you’ve been wondering, “Just where the hell have you been, [livejournal.com profile] webofevil?”, then I’ll ignore the fact that you’re being a little brusque and tell you that I’ve been to a family meet-up here:

That’s more than a 3,000-kilometre journey. I would have split the driving with my brother, if I could drive. We took the car up north instead of flying because we wanted to take our time returning along the spectacular coast. So the trip consisted of things like this:

And this:

Very much a shedload of this:

And a statistically unlikely amount of this;

Also, a museum of dried fish.

Wow. When my brother lived in Oslo, he would occasionally have mates come over to visit and they would all head up to the far north, for the journey rather than the destination. Makes me sorry he doesn't live in those parts any more.

Lovely stuff.

The dried fish look as though they've been eating custard creams.

Maybe they were caught like that - the museum didn't specify...

The museum cafe is very strict, though, as you can see: only one biscuit per customer. It's very expensive to transport custard creams to the tip of the Lofoten islands, and the owner won't be doing that again in a hurry, so they're strictly rationed

That's brilliant; I was being flippant, as I wasn't sure from the smaller pics that they *were* biscuits! But having found your stream on Flickr, I can see they are genuinely rationed custard creams.

Wot, no chocolate bourbons?
