I am currently away. Until service is resumed, here is a perfectly sensible clothes shop opposite my hotel whose name I confess to finding an endless source of childish amusement. I have no excuses for this.

I fear my loose usage of the word "opposite" has led you astray. In fact I'm in a defiantly mediocre room at the Vosges (which makes it one of the hotel's better suites) - sadly, though, not at what I gather is the usual discount, siomply because I booked online and not over the phone. This can be added to the other 100000000 work-related things over the years that I have found out long after they would have been useful, with the motto ringing in my ears: "Didn't someone tell you...?"
