Few [Ministers] have made such a remarkable entrance as Lord Brayley, proprietor of the Canning Town Glass Company, large donor to Labour party funds and surprise choice as Army Minister in 1974. He arrived [for the first time] outside the Ministry of Defence in a Lamborghini and immediately apologised to his flabbergasted Private Secretary, "Sorry about the car, but the Rolls is in being serviced". He later resigned when the Fraud Squad started to investigate the company.
