Either this is a brilliant hoax by someone very bored, or I just felt the world's average IQ sag yet again.

It's got to be a joke, right? It's GOT to be.

Hoax. It must be. I think the last line pushes it slightly too far and proves it.

Worryingly, the more I read it, the more it starts to almost make sense...

It's not a joke. It's Country Australia.

For example my father was in charge of a 1991 campaign to introduce Daylight Savings to Queensland.

Standard rural responses were "it'll fade the curtains" and "the cows will get all confused". I thought people were making this up until I met some of the "no daylight savings" camp.

The solution is obvious: give individuals, families and communities the freedom to choose however many hours of daylight are best suited to their needs.

Not bad, Minister, but you forgot to add the crucial phrase that will not only bring that stirring speech alive but will show that you are an acute thinker and mean that you are instantly taken seriously:
“… going forward.”

True, but then, what if hard-working families and small businesses want to enhance their daylight effectiveness by going backwards?

Going backwards goes against everything we stand for.
