So do the people who list "hanging out with friends" as one of their Livejournal interests count themselves as a subset of the "hanging out" group? Or is the difference a crucial point of doctrine, leading to permanent sectarian war between the two groups?

"Well, who the hell else are you going to hang out with? Your parents?"
"You dare to mock me? Indiscriminate infidel dog!"
