The BBC has discovered what the main political parties have been too unnerved to find out for themselves: that treating the BNP like an actual party—that is, listening to them, engaging with them and simply quoting them—constitutes far more of an attack on the party than any amount of hit-and-run denunciations from above.

As long as they’re treated as an all-powerful bogeyman, the BNP are almost being done a favour. Start giving their views an airing and people can see them for the hapless morons they are.

What about requiring ex-service people to keep loaded assault rifles in their homes?

Surely the party was not serious about bringing home troops from Iraq to station in Kent to “secure Britain’s borders”?
