I might be way off base here, but is it to do with the power set of the set of real numbers? The noble Lord makes an eloquent and typically well-informed point.

Something like that. It's one of those books where you (by which I mean 'I') only really understand it while I'm reading it.

My understanding of these things falters at all the crucial steps and most of the non-crucial ones. Although I do remember that the symbol for the power set of R is that Hebrew letter, which I can't get here.
