In 1993, during the most vicious winter we'd had for years, I was huddling by the entrance to Tottenham Court Road station for warmth in the middle of the night after a gig. Over the road, in front of the Virgin Megastore, was what looked like a line of cocoons. It turned out they were East 17 fans, risking pneumonia by camping out overnight so they could be first in the queue when the lads made their instore appearance the following evening.

I am, in all honesty, not anticipating similar scenes for this:
