Two security guards outside the Lords chamber had stopped a third one. “We’re stuck on ‘N’,” said one.

“What do you mean?” asked his colleague.

“You know, the alphabet. Alpha, Bravo, Charlie... What's ‘N’?”

“November."

“That’s it,” said the first guard. “They’ve modernised it.”

I really don't think they have.

Given that most car-park attendants get to master these 26 elusive and magical words after a couple of days on the job, I'm pleased to conclude that the dear officers must be using up their brainpower with sheer, bloody, mind-straining detection.
