There are so many great things about this story, I don't know where to begin. So I won't.
Sun editor held in Kemp 'assault'

Sun newspaper editor Rebekah Wade has been arrested for allegedly assaulting her actor husband Ross Kemp, a star of the BBC One soap EastEnders.

Scotland Yard said Mr Kemp, 41, sustained a "thick lip" but declined medical aid.

Wade... has used The Sun to launch a high-profile campaign against domestic violence.

EDIT: Oh, drat these gossip-mongers. I for one am sure there's nothing whatever in the scurrilous tittle-tattle that claims she got back drunk at 4am to find TV's rent-a-Para in bed with a man and hit the roof. And his lip.

EDIT EDIT: The effect this story is having is astonishing. At a time when the headlines seem to have been unremittingly gloomy (unless you're a huge fan of the royal family, in which case hooray! Charles is in the States, fascinating Americans with his scintillating opinions, and wahoo! William's going to be King of Football or something), the editor of the Sun thumping her idiot husband is uniting people in a way I wouldn't have thought possible even a year ago. Watching this story break is like gathering round the fireside in days of old and listening to ITMA. Ever the populist, Rebekah Wade hasn't lost her uncanny ability to second-guess the British psyche and give it exactly what it wants. Well done Rebekah! Now let's work on your spelling.
