A special mention for the man who stopped his bike in Hanway Street the other night and suddenly called out, “Is no-one going to pick that up?” We had no idea what he meant. He looked at us as if we were mad and pointed behind us. “Are you just going to walk past it?” We all started looking in earnest but had no idea what he was excited about. He wheeled his bike around, hurried over to the gutter and retrieved a soggy, crumpled piece of paper that most of us hadn’t even spotted and the people who did had written off as an old receipt. It turned out to be five pounds. “Nice!” he grinned, and cycled off. He was Scottish.
