At work we have a Twain scanner, which scans printed text on the page and converts it into text on the screen. It's generally very impressive but can easily be thrown by anything that isn't text. When it has a stab at translating scrawled signatures or doodles the results are usually random scatterings of letters and punctuation, but just occasionally, if someone has annotated their speech with handwriting, the results, while still confusing, can be delightful.
Lord Warner: However, at least I can understand the Government's thinkingleven-witlitrett-evreper inapacturigument. That coherence of thinking seems to me to be lacking in most other departments.



EDIT: It has come to my attention that the photograph used to illustrate this story is in fact not of Lord Warner but of a gentleman who works for South West Trains. I am happy to provide an actual picture of Lord Warner and apologise for any confusion that this might have caused.
