Life before GTA
Apr. 15th, 2010 02:20 pmI find it hard to believe that Securicor actually licensed its name for use in this game.

“One player is the Securicor Operator and the other player(s) the thieves. The Securicor Operator’s aim is to move the Securicor vans with the bullion loads safely from the banks to the factories. The Securicor Operator can choose whether to load both lots of bullion onto one vehicle, and use the other as a decoy, or load one lot onto each vehicle. During the journey, the thieves try to intercept and rob Securicor vans and take the bullion back to their own headquarters. If a robbery takes place, the Securicor Operator uses the police cars to try and re-capture the bullion loads from the thieves. The thieves also can try and capture the bullion loads from each other after a Securicor Van has been robbed.”

I picked this up in some disbelief for a quid, but I see that someone recently punted one on eBay for about £30, highlighting its rarity and saying,

My Dad used to actually work for Securicor many years ago, hence when the game was bought… Also true to life the vans were regularly attacked by gangs / thieves. My dad was an actual victim of several attempts, some quite brutal!
