Actually, it was waiting for him to be caught in a lie - around about 1:10 through to about 1:23 or so, that thing starts registering pretty close to the red as he starts trash talking about the device, suggesting a lack of belief in his own words.

Perhaps if the device were to be used at about the same time as the man was asked something personal where he knew he'd have to lie, the results might be different.

As it is, the amber reading on that device at about 1:22 would be enough for me not to trust that man with money from my pocket.

There's a difference between the tone of voice of a cynic, who believes something to be rubbish, and the nervous tone of voice of a man who does not believe in the words he is saying.

I was actually waiting to see if that journo would actually say something, in a normal tone of voice, that he didn't believe - like "My MP is honest" or "I really like myself."
