(no subject)

Six, maybe seven years ago there was a news story, reported in several papers and (I thought) online, about a millionaire South African diamond-mine owner in Belgrade on business who had gone to a bar and, across that crowded bar, made eye contact with the most beautiful girl he had ever clapped eyes on. He made his way through the throng to find her but couldn’t; there was no sign. He made enquiries about her but no-one seemed to know anything. Later that week he took out an advert in a local newspaper describing her and offering a reward for her whereabouts, saying that he was not ever going to leave Belgrade until he found her, he knew from that glance that she was his soulmate, etc etc.


Given the strong likelihood that no-one was telling him anything about her because she was the girlfriend of a powerful local gangster, I am intrigued by what, if any, conclusion this story ever reached, but no matter what combination of pertinent words I sprinkle over Google, I get a large bowl of “fuck” with a side order of “all”. Anyone remember this story at all, or got any whizkid ideas on how to track it down?
