Oct. 14th, 2009 05:11 pmMeant to post this last week but failed, so by now it’s all ancient news, but it’s useful to be reminded occasionally that we are actually properly living in a sci-fi future. Even in the midst of workaday drudgery such as commuting and autumn colds, I recommend contemplating for a moment the effect on the you of even just 15 years ago of being confronted with last week’s news bulletins: the first black American president receiving the Nobel peace prize on the same day that Nasa bombed the moon and a self-described “space clown” hosted a massive global television event from the International Space Station.
