Juror accused over music in court

A Muslim woman has been arrested for allegedly listening to music while sitting as a juror in a murder trial. It is alleged she concealed an MP3 player and earphones beneath a traditional hijab.

The woman, who is in her 20s, was part of a murder trial jury at Blackfriars Crown Court. The man on trial was later jailed for life for murdering his wife.

The woman has been bailed to appear at the court to face a charge of contempt on 23 July. If found guilty, she faces an unlimited fine and indefinite imprisonment.

The allegation was subject to a reporting embargo imposed by the judge until the end of the murder trial. [Source: BBC]
