Lord Selsdon is exercised, in his own way, about the Government’s catastrophically costly private finance initiative programme:Lord Selsdon: Have the Government effectively mortgaged their souls and bodies for the future? The word mortgage means death grasp or death wish. I am concerned about that as an ex-banker, because I never support any word that begins with ‘p’, or ‘PFI’.
