Baroness Thatcher of Kesteven (left)

Apparently, if "Lady" Thatcher holds off until the weekend before hopping the twig, we get Monday off. Come on, modern medicine! Keep her going a couple more days! But, er, then that's probably enough. Don't knock yourself out.

Oh God. Imagine the funeral. It'll be like George Best but worse.

(And think how earnest and bloody sanctimonious the Dear Leader's going to be. And how much the right-wing press will wank itself into a frenzy. I'm going to need to drink myself through all this - thank Christ the pubs will be open all day.)

EDIT: Apparently she's been released from custody hospital and feels "fine". Best nip down to William Hill and see if I can get my money back.

Really. I got told this news (complete with its possible ramifications vis-a-vis my working hours) four minutes before it made it onto the BBC News website. Corridors of power all right.

Of course, it might just have been another mini-stroke and she could go on till her nineties. But, to be honest, the weekend will do.

*won't hum "Diong Dong, the Witch is Dead" unless it has jinxing properties*

Too late! I already hummed it. I also made the universal "churn the butter" sign for "hooray" the moment I was told, which was unfortunate, as I was in the Chamber of the House of Lords at the time. I now have to record tomorrow's broadcast on BBC Parliament of today's proceedings to see if I'm visible when I do it, but I suspect I am, as the person who was speaking was just in front of me. If I'm lucky it'll just be a mystifying shot of my hands.

We want to see booty shaken in the house.

The news says she felt faint "on a visit to the hairdressers".

A more in-depth report revealed that she's just changed hairdressers after visiting the same one since 1979. The new salon has mirrors.
