Confused Tory MP Philip Davies has called for tomorrow’s cancelled Jonathan Ross show to be replaced with an episode of “Fawlty Towers” as a mark of respect for Andrew Sachs. Davies appears to have seriously misunderstood what has happened. Sachs is resolutely still alive and has not become the Queen Mother.

Also, note how one bumbling bloke saying this translates in the Telegraph to “there are growing calls for the corporation to screen an episode of the classic 1970s comedy series”.

Oh, but which episode to show? Should it be the one where Sachs portrays an ignorant foreigner who doesn't understand the difference between a rat and a hamster, or the one where he plays an ignorant foreigner who thinks that someone wants to book a hotel room for a garden gnome? It's not going to be easy to get the tone just right, is it?

Perhaps they should show the feature film (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075696/) of “Are You Being Served?” where Sachs plays the comedy Spaniard in charge of a hotel, Don Carlos Bernardo.
Don Carlos Bernardo: Of course. Tentyhouses! Oh, my English spelling is so bad. Whenever I’m wanting ‘T’ I’m having a ‘P’.

Mr. Humphries: Remind me to stick to coffee.

Or the episodes of Monkey that he seems to have appeared in: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078659/fullcredits#cast

Sachs beating Damon Albarn to the punch there.

Too soon, man, too soon. The hurt is still too raw.
