Didn’t realise it was the Budget today. As I wandered across College Green, surrounded by cameras and reporters (including a crane, which seemed a little unnecessary—I hope Sky News are going to use it for an impressive crash zoom: “The basic rate of income tax will fall from 22p to…” [ZOOM, SHOCK CHORD] “… 20p!”), I saw a lone protestor sat chatting to a policeman. Propped up against the low wall next to him was a toilet seat bearing the slogan, “SAVE OUR TOILETS”. The media can’t all have turned out for this, I thought. And I was right.

We had the BBC coverage on and an exciting 'whooshing' noise from the TV drew my attention. I looked up to see what seemed to be a CGI Lego Noah revolving on the screen next to some coins.

I went back to my sandwich, which obv. I bought yesterday to avoid this crippling tax on bread.
