The Tories have done a deal and ID cards will be voted through. God knows what the sweetener was. Maybe ID cards won't be issued to anyone who owns property worth more than £10 million. Maybe anyone who owns a car worth more than £100,000 won't have to obey any UK speed limits. Maybe, in the final analysis, they're just

Sorry, only just seen this. I find it interesting, entertaining, engaging, sometimes infuriating. That's in the Lords; the job is harder in Commons Committee (which is where I'm guessing you've been offered the job), because - going against all accepted cliché - they tend to talk more nonsense there. Whether you'd enjoy it partly depends on what you're used to.
