The "Meh" of London

“Boris Ahead By A Whisker,” barked the Evening Standard yesterday, but then the animosity between the paper and Ken Livingstone is so advanced that even if he wins today I fully expect it to claim victory for Johnson and then go spinning off into its own little alternate universe, printing endless stories about how London is flourishing under the benevolent reign of King Boris, with endless street parties in his honour and a panda in a hat on every street corner.

Parliamentary rules rightly state that Crown employees must not publicly display party allegiance. I maintain, however, that it does not contravene this rule—since it doesn’t matter what party you’re from; even the most ardent Tory with an ounce of smarts must privately feel the same—to say: God help us if by some satanic miracle BoJo gets in. This is not a partisan political point but strictly, and deservedly, ad hominem; for all its many faults I love this city, and it doesn’t deserve to have, essentially, a giant toddler delightedly wiping its own faeces all over it.

Didn't the CIA once try to spike Castro's food with depilatory chemical shenanigans? The unelectable horror show that would be a baldy BoJo...well it's something to think about for next time, those of you with proximity to power and its sandwhiches.
