Anyone already suspecting that the world is on the brink of the apocalypse is unlikely to be deconvinced of this by the news that Black Lace’s Agadoo is to be re-released. The BBC has an unintentionally double-edged quote from the band’s singer: “With all the doom and gloom in the world, this is just what we need.”

I don’t mind too much, though, as that in turn means a re-release for the Web of Evil’s own tribute, created years ago following a conversation about what could be the least likely mashup based purely on the titles of the songs involved (Clickmusicbiz.com had already suggested the horrific possibility of “Papa’s Got A Brand New Combine Harvester”). Fully the worst aspect of the whole story about Jacqui Smith’s husband being caught watching a couple of mucky films is that this means the always laboured “humour” section in the middle of the next Private Eye will be even worse than usual. I really can’t forgive him for that.
